We are Hiring for the 2019 Summer Season!!
Denali Education Center is a non-advocacy, for-purpose organization and a proud partner of Denali National Park and Preserve. Our mission is to promote understanding and appreciation of Denali through fun, informative, and inspiring programs. Our 10-acre campus is home to 24 guest rooms, a combined classroom and dining hall, a lecture hall, a yurt, an employee kitchen/bath facility, and employee cabins. We operate week-long learning vacations in cooperation with numerous educational groups and organizations, primarily Road Scholar. In addition, we offer a suite of community programs, evening events, lectures, and youth programs.
Our campus is located on the edge of Denali National Park along the Nenana River. We are a diverse organization, with our roots firmly planted in the local community, and Denali National Park and Preserve. Each summer, we are lucky to welcome hard-working, motivated, and fun individuals who collectively make Denali Education Center possible. Our organization experiences a low staff turnover, so be prepared to fall in love with our dynamic and fun work community!
Our Event Coordinator is DEC’s primary contact for all events and performances in the Charles Sheldon Center, Volunteer Day, and fundraising events. Acting as the face and voice of Denali Education Center, the Event Coordinator works in a highly collaborative environment with staff, guests, and volunteers.
YOUTH FIELD INSTRUCTOR
The Youth Field Instructor leads all youth programs- which includes day programs, week-long camps, and overnight backpacking programs in Denali’s wilderness areas. Our youth programs work to share the importance of wild places and exploration with Alaskan youth of all ages!
Group Leaders are responsible for leading the day-to-day activities for our adult summer learning vacations. Our learning vacations travel throughout Alaska highlighting key areas of our state. The group leader’s main roles focus on ensuring group cohesion and that everything runs smoothly as they travel with the group.
Program Coordinators are responsible for scheduling, preparing, and facilitating learning vacations on and off our campus. They work closely with the Program Manager and Group Leaders to ensure the success of residential and traveling portions of the programs. They also work with the kitchen and hospitality staff in order to maintain a high-quality guest experience.
Hospitality Staff is responsible for housekeeping and maintaining cleanliness and order throughout our campus facilities.
Campus Cooks are responsible for assisting the Head Chef with kitchen and campus operations, including receiving inventory and preparation of family-style meals including meals for guests with dietary restrictions.
