The Youth Program Manager will provide professional project development and management for all Denali Education Center youth programs in partnership with the National Park Service, on our residential Denali campus, in Talkeetna, and any additional youth programming that occurs. Successful candidates will be motivated, energetic, and organized individuals capable of developing and implementing innovative strategies to achieve our growth and development goals. The Program Manager is a full-time exempt position responsible for administering learning vacation programs, ensuring they are well-organized, safe, educational, and fun. The Program Manager hires, trains, and supervises seasonal support staff and reports to the Program Director. The Youth Field Educator will assist the Youth Programs Manager in professional risk management, preparation, logistics, and execution for all Denali Education Center youth programs, including leading youth programs in Denali’s front country and backcountry areas. Successful candidates will be motivated, energetic, flexible, and organized individuals capable of working independently or in a small group setting. Denali Discovery Camp instructors will assist with leading educational hikes, creating engaging hands-on learning activities, and leading overnight camping trips in Denali National Park.  Duties include working collaboratively with a team of instructors, supervising up to 10 youth in an outdoor setting, and creating a safe learning environment for campers to explore and connect with the outside world. Talkeetna Discovery Camp instructors will assist with leading educational hikes, creating engaging hands-on learning activities, and engaging with the Talkeetna community during camp weeks.  Duties include working collaboratively with a team of instructors, supervising up to 10 youth in an outdoor setting, and creating a safe learning environment for campers to explore and connect with the outside world. This is a mixed role of housekeeping, kitchen support, custodial, and maintenance of the grounds, which makes every day interesting and a little different. Campus Cooks are responsible for assisting the head chef with kitchen operations, including receiving inventory, preparation of group meals (including special meals for guests with dietary restrictions), washing dishes, ensuring a clean kitchen and workspace at all times, and other duties as assigned. Group Leaders are responsible for leading Road Scholar learning vacations, both on our campus and throughout Alaska. They work closely with other DEC Program Staff to provide fun, educational, and memorable experiences for participants. The Group Leader provides consistency throughout the program itinerary and, as such, has the opportunity to greatly influence the program’s impact. We welcome Volunteers at Denali Education Center anytime! We’d love to have you if you’re interested in sweeping a hike, hauling gravel, gardening, working our fundraising events, or any other tasks.
