Kim Heacox is the author of more than a dozen books, including the 2015 Denali memoir, Rhythm of the Wild. His books have earned starred reviews in Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, Booklist, and Library Journal, and twice won the National Outdoor Book Award (first for his 2015 novel, Jimmy Bluefeather, and again for his memoir, The Only Kayak, published in 2005 and re-released with a new cover and afterword in 2020). His newest book, On Heaven’s Hill, a novel seven years in the making, was released in 2023 in paperback. Kim also writes opinions for The Guardian that mostly focus on the climate crisis, global biodiversity loss, and threats to US public lands.
